A talk delivered at the RSAA, describing the practice of traditional archery in Nuristan Province, Afghanistan. Nuristan’s distinct cultural identity harks back to its pre-islamic roots. As the last part of the country to be converted to Islam in 1896, it has long been an isolated province, protected by difficult terrain and a fiercely independent spirit, which it retains to this day.
