Aleph conducted a renewal evaluation of UNESCO’s International Research Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage (IRCI) in Japan, assessing its governance, impact, and alignment with UNESCO’s mission. The review found that IRCI successfully facilitated regional research collaborations but needed to strengthen policy advocacy and funding mechanisms. Recommendations included improving communication with UNESCO headquarters, increasing staff capacity, and securing additional funding for long-term sustainability.
